3:00PM to 4:00PM – Travel Photography session by Arun Bhat

Photographers are well aware of the composition guidelines that go into making photographs. A good understanding of these guidelines helps the photographer convey the story, with the necessary emotion, to the audience. In the field, however, there is often just enough time to press the shutter button as the moment passes by. How does the photographer think through the composition in such little time? Arun Bhat, ace travel photographer and Director at Darter Photography, unravels the secrets in his talk on Conscious Composition, a technique that has helps him capture amazing travel photographs. The session would be followed by a discussion on photography tips, techniques and tricks in the field.

February 08, 2015 (Sunday)

2PM to 3PM – Travel Session by Adarsh J Raju in discovering the extraordinary bird life in the rarely visited dense forests of Papua New Guinea.

Darter Photography Grant

Darter Photography Grant

Darter Photography has always aimed to nurture and enhance the passion for photography and motivate photographers to produce impactful work. To further this goal, Darter Photography is setting up the Darter Photography Grant – a unique grant to fund any photography related projects that have a promising outcome but are short on resources to complete the endeavour.

How does the Darter Photography Grant work?

Any photographer with a great story to tell and is short on resources could apply for the Darter Photography Grant. The photography story should have a concrete execution plan and an eventual purpose for it to be considered.

A panel of experts, including Darter Photographers and people not directly associated with Darter, would review the proposals and interview the shortlisted photographers before allocating the Grant. The project(s) would then be monitored by the experts panel, along with any mentoring needed, to ensure that the goals are met and the Grant is used purposefully.

How often would the Grant be allocated?

To start with, we propose to have an annual cycle to allocate Grants to photography projects. In 2015, we’ll invite applications for the Grants after the WANDERLUST Exhibition is completed.

How do we generate funding for the Darter Photography Grant?

All photographs at the WANDERLUST exhibition are available for purchase. A share of the proceeds from photograph sales at the WANDERLUST exhibition will go towards setting up the first Darter Photography Grant.
